In our years of travel, we have stayed in more than 100 different accommodations around the world, from hotels to cave and tree houses, from apartments to cabins and tents. Most of them ranged from decent to very good, with a handful of complete disasters and a dozen of amazing ones.
In this post, I will list all of the accommodations that awed us in Europe and the reasons why we loved them.
They were all booked via Booking.com, Hotels.com or Airbnb.com
I am not an affiliate of any of those search engines and I do not receive any commission from them.
These are my honest reviews of the places we loved.
1. AUSTRIA
1.1 Superbude Hotel (Vienna) What makes it one of our most favorite accommodations in Europe:
the whole building is like an art exhibit and in every corner you can find interesting or quirky things
very stylish and clean
themed hotel – each room had a different theme, like ”Cinema”, ”Bird’s Nest”, ”Disco”, ”Glamping” etc
you could choose different songs or voices to play in the elevator
good food at the rooftop restaurant
our room had ”hidden beds” for children and a secret stairway to get to them. Our kids had a blast playing hide and seek there.
awesome location, right in Old Town, in front of the ”cat park” – a square filled with cats that are taken care of by the locals. Our kids spent many hours playing with the cats
very close to where the Kotor Old Fortress trail starts
lots of restaurants, bars and souvenir stores around
very friendly owners who live on site, invited us to dine with them and their friends, they bought watermelon and shared it with our kids and even offered to do our laundry for free
beautiful, well cared for property with good quality furniture and pretty Romanian decor
fenced in year, safe for the kids to play around
swings, playground and trampoline
free bicycles
outside shared kitchen
located in a small village, at the base of a mountain where you can explore caves and go on hikes
within driving distance to Horezu, one of the biggest pottery centers in Romania
convenient location, close to one of the Hop on – Hop off bus stations
within walking distance (half an hour – 40 min) to the Cathedral and Plaza de Espana
it had a historical feel about it
I hope these places have inspired you to travel and check them out for yourself. If you do, please drop a comment and let me know how your experience was. Also, if you have some amazing accommodations to recommend, please do so in the comments. Let’s keep this list going.
